Description
1965 Chevy C-10 Standard 104,000 miles, originally equipped with 250 straight 6 and a 3 speed manual transmission with shift on the column and a standard option cab. Original VIN plate and weight tin are untouched. Straight six had a knock but ran great and the trans shifted great also. I still have both that will go with the truck along with any parts removed for the conversion in case it someday gets restored to orginal. Now has a 4 bolt 1974 454 truck block oval port heads, .30 over, bump up from stock cam, engine was built about a year ago basically back to stock configure. Hooker 2" headers with 3 1.2 collectors. Tall Polished aluminum valve covers (notched the firewall to fit the engine and these covers can be removed in vehicle), New starter with hotshot relay kit, water pump, Chrome 1 wire 100 amp alternator and bracket, new belts, flex fan, rebuilt distributer with all new internals and hot module and coil, 8mm plug wires, 750 cfm rochester rebuilt, stock intake. Used th400 turbo transmission with stock convertor, with B&M Race shift kit and manual valve body, hits second pretty damn hard but shift to third is getting soft, TCI adjustable modulator, B&M filter and trick Shift Fluid. Had plans to put a 700R4, New CPP crossmember is adjustable to any chevy trans but decided to run the 400 for local cruise nights for now, takes a bit more abuse. New CPP engine mounts. Original 3:73 posi 12 bolt with drum brakes. Original drive shaft was shortened and phase balanced by a local drivetrain shop.
Converted the manual steering to power steering using a bracket kit from CPP and a 1987 Chevy truck power steering gear box with converted metric to standard lines for the saginaw old style power steering pump. Has the orignal drum brakes up front with new outer tierods and alignment. I also have the crossmember, upper and lower control arms, springs, rotors, calipers, drag link and tie rod ends and sway bar and mounts from 1987 Chevy Delux truck that go with it. These parts need painted and new drop shocks, ball joints, arm shafts and drop spindles and the entire front suspension is ready to bolt onto the 65 for 6 lug disk brakes and stronger a-arms than stock. Has the 1987 chevy truck steering shaft connected to a new chrome tilt/column shift Ididit steering column, CPP polished billet adapter, 1/2 wrap leather and 1/2 finger grooved polished billet steering wheel and horn button. Yes the horn works and shift indicator light up. Lokar steering column to transmission shift linkage. The interior is completely all original and all working including the wipers, windows, vent windows, floor vents, heater box and fan with new defrost ducting and heater core. Dash warning lights are unhooked I have a 3 gauge pack attached to the center of the lower dash edge. No one has ever hacked any wiring or even put a radio in the truck. Still has factory radio delete plates. original bench seat material is torn up on the drivers side and has been duct taped for now. New gas tank and sending unit, gauge works flawless and no gas fumes in the truck.
My guess is the truck had to have come from out west at one point. Its ridiculously solid cab and bed is what led me to buy it. I purchased it from a guy south of Norwalk who had plans of building it but ended up just driving it with the straight six for the summers. The Bed is in great shape, no rust through any where and tailgate is in excellent shape and works flawless also has the original bed wood in it with a couple of holes knocked through the wood. Truck has 5 repairable rust spots all pictures of each spot are on the flicker page. Both lower front fender bottoms will need replaced which is common on these trucks, right front radiator support mounting pad was rusted out and I just made a support bracket and quick job welded it up to support the front end correctly, this part is available online. Top front of inner fender has a rust area about the size of a 1/2 dollar. Left front floor pan to cab has a couple holes about 1/8 in diameter, Passenger side rocker has a dent and rust hole in the very center, the truck was backed into according to the previous owner by a tractor rear tire, door shuts like factory and seals, even the body lines are straight still. I have a complete loaded door from Missouri thats in great shape to replace the original door. I have New LH inner and outer cab corners, inner and outer rockers and front fender bottom patch panels from Brothers that go with the truck.
I finished it the day before the big Woodward dream cruise here in Detroit and drove it for 6 hours straight without a problem, and in dead stopped traffic for an hour it might hit 180 degrees. I have put 500 miles on it in 2 weeks and its gonna need new shoes cause there just starting to squeak a little, just a great dependable old hot rod truck with probably some of the best Patina around. Wish it had the suspension all done and it it and it would take these Michigan potholes a bit better but never rubs anywhere.
